Anything less then this is going to be work.
Chemical based? they are a terrible idea, dont work very well so need constant re apply and then your just poisoning your land. why even be outside then?
uv light/electrical based? they are terrible and will kill every damn thing else alive. dont install these outside! inside only!
Water based? this actually works(depending on where you live)just get a small tub or like a plastic storage or recycling bin or a 5 gallon bucket, and keep it there outside full of water, throw in a hand full of leaves and dirt before you do, every so often throw in "mosquito dunks", thats it. you get them to use the honeybucket and keep it full of mosquito larva eating bacteria, something like that, look into it.
Mosquitos are evolved for our skin, they smell out breath, they are our perfect enemy, you wont fully avoid them. get used to wearing long breathable clothing when your working in the heat, a very loose outer layer over a very thin inner layer can feel cooling in the heat and keep them away from our skin while working outside.
Mosquitos like to be outside in when the angle of the sun is low, so work outside when the angle of the sun is high overhead. If you have alot of mosquitos even when the sun is high then you got a lot of mosquitos indeed and need dunk buckets asap. might want to check your property for standing water, get your gutters cleaned.
Mosquitos are pathetic bugs, they can be eating by many other bugs and birds. A diversity of plants on your property will bring a diversity of bugs. A diversity of bugs will bring a diversity of larger bugs, which will bring a diversity of birds. Make habitat for all of these on your property.
Dont spray chemical fertilizer/herbicide/pesticide, stop mowing 100% of the lawn and let some go to seed. this will slowly bring more diversity. have an area where you pile sticks twigs and logs, a waist high pile of random sticks provides a huge space for bugs to hang out. Dont bag your leaves, let them settle all winter long, did you know fireflys overwinter in leaf litter? when you blow leaves away, you blow healthy bugs away too. Do all of these things and slowly the bugs and birds in your neighborhood will learn your yard is safe, the increase diversity will bring so many medium/large hunter bugs and birds that mosquitos wont be able to survive out there.
Swallows?
Only one that sort of works is called California. Dry summers, sometimes too dry.
