Will Stripe Buy PayPal?

It was announced a while ago now, but I haven't heard anything since.

Does PayPal become more valuable if a competitor offers to buy them? Or less?

Will it happen?

If it does happen, would the PayPal developer API and Braintree stay, or would we all be migrating Venmo and PayPal payments over to Stripe?
