Fight Traffic Cam Tickets?

My wife got a ticket issued by a traffic camera in Albany Oregon. We do not live there and had no idea they had started such a program.

She is a ridiculously safe driver and was flowing with traffic. If they got her, then they likely got dozens (if not hundreds) of other vehicles from this speed trap.

Such red-light-turned-speed-trap installations are repugnant beyond words and needs to be stopped. We would like to know whether it is worth fighting. Willing to pay an order of magnitude more than the $165 ticket to make the department completely miserable.

You think you can make a bureaucrat's life miserable? By fighting a ticket?

Man, that's the exciting part of the day they live for.

Pay the fine. Move on with your life. Seriously.

There are ongoing court cases which seek to make this kind of thing illegal, based on the shift in burden (driver has to prove they weren't the one, normally a police officer is right there to verify a person)

That being said, if she broke the law, she broke the law. If we decide that we should get exception to the rules of law we don't like (like trump), then what will become of our society? Pedestrian and traffic fatalities in America are atrocious
