GCP account got compromised and ran million dollar bill

Question

Hi, I am a developer using GCP for last 5 years. Last month, I saw more than a million dollar invoice for vertex that I never used. Due to specific family issue, I was not able to check my emails/ gcp last month but this is going to be devastating for me. I have stopped bleeding by closing access to vertex, removing my services etc. But, how do I recover from this?Help is very much appreciated.

Well I'd start by getting in touch with them and explaining the issue. Can't you get some logs to show a fraudulent usage (if that was the case) ?
