When I check back on HN posts from a decade ago, there appears to have been more emphasis on those sorts of topics than there is now. Where did that go? Where do folks go for business related posts?
We're in a deep down cycle as far as the economics of spunky little startups and democratized entrepreneurship goes.
Investment money isn't as nearly available as it was during ZIRP days, and where it does exist, it's being vacuumed up into winner-take-all extremely-high-capital AI initiatives rather than clever little product ideas (AI or otherwise).
Meanwhile, potential consumers are facing fragile employment, stagnant earnings, and high inflation; while potential business clients are dealing with similar inflation (and direct tariff issues) on their own supply chain.
Ultimately, there's not as much practical talk about business/startups anywhere right now because it's a pretty awful time to be pursuing that, as neither investors nor customers are eager to give you money right now.
When things turn, which is probably at least a few years out, HN will probably return to being one of the better places to look for those kind of discussions as its relationship to Y Combinator kinds of guarantees some baseline amount of that when things are booming.
