How do you see yourself keeping your current lifestyle in retirement. Have you saved enough in your 401k, brokerage? What passive income streams are you counting on? Long term care seems like a proper scam and any decent health Insurance will run ~3k in monthly premiums. Not looking for specifics, just sense checking how prepared you feel personally. I don’t.
That said, I don’t think I’ll ever feel secure or feel like I’m doing enough. I could always do more. I also don’t have any kids, so that worries me and makes me think I need to have even more saved, and make sure there are people or institutions I can trust to makes sure I’m taken care of and comfortable, if I don’t have family to advocate for me when I’m old. Either that or I need to actually put some effort into starting a family before it’s too late.
I wish I had done more to setup systems in my early years of working, even when the numbers were small. I still hit the mark on those estimates of how much a person should have saved by a given age, but I feel like I could have and should have done so much more. But that’s easy to say in hindsight.
I should also probably be taking better care of myself, as that is likely to pay dividends when it comes to healthcare costs and overall quality of life.
