Is a future Techno-oligarchy inevitable?

Considering that the gap between the super-rich and the rest keeps growing at a vertiginous speed every year[1][2], and that 7 of the top 10 world's wealthies persons come from the tech industry[3] (which we can probably all agree are very powerful and very political), my questions are:

i) Will this trend just keep increasing forever?

ii) How will a future society highly controlled by a few trillionaire tech moguls look like?
