Is wicd Back? If so, how can we guarantee it succeeds?

According to this Dev1Galaxy thread[0], wicd has been ported to python3. Most of the work seems from Takahiro Yoshizawa, who may or may not be hanaguro.

Without bloviating on how much I loathe Network-Manager, which I could extensively, those who love/d wicd might understand and should be pleased that their trusty old friend might soon be coming back. When Debian dropped wicd from the repos, I was severely disappointed and for the first year, managed my wireless connections via CLI. I certainly share the joy expressed in the thread.

Of the plethora of brilliant folks who loiter here on HN, perhaps someone might have the skills and interest to help resurrect the world's most awesomeist network manager? If so, please do consider!

Otherwise, we'll just have to wait, and hope it happens.

Can anyone tell me why this submission has been disappeared from the *ask* section?

Is dang a Network-Manager guy?

Edit: Tried two separate browsers and it has been nixed from the #ask# section. It's just fading away under the #new# section. I won't go off half-cocked, but there's no valid reason to suppress a friendly solicitation to help with a great piece of (controversial?) OSS. Why has this post been disappeared? Is this a common thing?
