Would You Use an App That Reminds You to Take Stretch and Eye Breaks?
Hey HN,
I spend a lot of time on the computer, like many of you, and have noticed my posture and eyes suffer after long sessions. The big difference is that I’m also a physician specializing in neck and spine pain, so I know the exercises, techniques, and recommended frequencies—but even I have a hard time reminding myself to do them. I’m considering building a lightweight desktop/mobile app that nudges you every 30–60 minutes to stretch (randomizing neck, wrist, and lower-back/core exercises) and every 20–30 minutes for a quick eye break (like the 20-20-20 rule). The app would also provide simple, illustrated exercises to relieve neck/back/wrist tension and reduce eye strain.
Would you find something like this helpful, or would it just end up being another notification you’d silence? I’d love any feedback on features, pricing (free vs. freemium), and whether there are existing tools that already solve this problem. Thanks!
