Anyone coding on the side only?
Curious to know if there are folks who don’t build software as their full time job that code on the side- what is your actual profession and what are you building? What motivates you to keep building software without making it your profession?
I work in tech leadership in a role that only rarely involves actually looking at or writing code for work. I code on the side because dopamine.
Mostly motivated by curiosity about how brains work and what can be done with code over the wire to spy on people or manipulate their traffic.
I am now doing research. I am supporting that with model coding, and still hacking my home control systems and servers because it's fun and informative and gives me fine control where I want it.
