Which courses/classes are you excited about in 2025?

I'm thinking of signing up for one of David's courses: https://www.dabeaz.com/courses.html. I've heard they're intense and very well done.

Anyone have any other courses or classes (not necessarily tech-related) they're looking forward to in 2025?

In 2025 I want to:

- Learn to scratch like Hip-Hop DJs.

- Make one techno track that could pass off as something that a local DJ in some random city would play and that the people in that room would enjoy.

I have previously taken in-person piano lessons, and I've spent quite a bit of time in Ableton and with MPC X, and with a few different keyboards and a drum machine. I have a mid-range DJ controller at home, the Traktor Kontrol S4 MK3.

Music is a hobby for me, and I cannot dedicate anywhere near full time to it in 2025. But if I can do these two things, then 2025 would be a great year in terms of my music hobby.

Taking a 3-month Salsa dance class starting early January. I've never been good at dance so I'm low key kind of excited. Might meet someone, too, you never know :)

A Japanese language course at the community college after getting sort of burned out on apps and Anki decks. Hoping I can make friends with some native speakers, or at least other students interested in practice.

MathAcademy was good but I just ran out of time every day to do it, and it was way too remedial for me. I was using it to learn advanced math relevant for my work, but it was taking me over stuff for standardized testing for high schoolers. The creator is active here and I sincerely think it’s a good product, but not right for me.

https://www.mathacademy.com/ for learning math through spaced repetition.

https://www.smart-biology.com/ for learning biology visually.

Also, the 3D graphics and compiler courses on pikuma

Still trying to get a food co-op off the ground here in Boston, and I am looking forward to the annual virtual conference of live videos that are basically the latest-in-industry news and updates about patterns and more others are doing from the Food Co-op Initiative:

I really want to take the how to solve it with code jeremy howard course, but it was already full by the time that I heard about it. So I probably shouldn’t be mentioning it on this thread. LOL

Not a course, as such, but reading “Measurement” by Paul Lockhart, of “A Mathematician’s Lament fame.

I’ve never read anything that so clearly communicates and leads you into a state of mind that COMPELS you to prove mathematical conjectures from first principles.

I found myself furiously sketching geometric proofs and simplifying algebraic conundrums with an enthusiasm I haven’t experienced in decades.

And a course on sewing for beginners and continuing Japanese.

I am finally going to learn to play the Piano. I have tried in the past and found I really enjoy the practicing yet I would let life get in the way and fall off.

Sorry for the self plug, but I want to help as many people as possible discover and leverage Knowledge Management.

Based on how helpful I found his earlier videos, I'm interested in checking our Andrej Karpathy's new ML course ( https://github.com/karpathy/LLM101n?tab=readme-ov-file ) when it's ready.

I’ve started learning piano using the Simply app paired with a keyboard. It’s been surprisingly fun and a nice mental break for me.
