How did Christmas break your local retail this year ?

Yesterday we went to a regular small supermarket to get groceries.. It was the day after christmas. A traditional christmas food here in Denmark are small potatoes, usually bought in a jar, like these: https://onlinebutikken.com/vare/gestus-perlekartofler-i-glas

They're usually around DKK 20 ( €$2.8 )

Yesterday they were DKK 1 ( €$0,14 )

Expiry date: start of 2026!

I understand, the shelf and storage space is more valuable to the shop than the goods they're now attempting not to simply throw away. This happens all the time after christmas or other seasonal events like Halloween, where candies and cookies are reduced by a factor of 10 or 100!

It's crazy, and since wife and I min/max stuff like that for fun, we save a ton of money, but on a grand scale, it must be a gigantic waste..

Did you experience similar crazyness after this years christmas ?

In the US, some families give gifts and have the big dinner at new year's, just so they have an extra week to catch the post christmas sales.
