How to make money while looking for a job?

I know this may sound silly but I've been on the market for some time now and I want help my wife with our household finances.

I have freelance website accounts but I haven't found projects that make sense.

What can I do in between leetcoding and prepping for interviews? My background is in computer vision but what I do doesn't have to be tech-related.

Opportunities will depend on where you live, your experience, and your age. Maybe the solution is to get a temporary job outside your area of expertise. For example, in certain cities retail stores hire more people during Christmas season to deal with the increased workload. That’s by definition a temporary job, and even two months of it may land you enough to meaningfully contribute to the household finances for a while.

Another option would be to lift some of the burden from your wife outside of her work. Searching for a job doesn’t take all day every day, so in the dead time maybe you could do the laundry, clean the house, cook, walk the dog, take kids to school, whatever is relevant to your situation¹.

Crucially, have you spoken to your wife about it? Do you want to contribute to the household finances because you feel you have to, or was this discussed between you two? Perhaps there’s another way she’d prefer you contribute that is more meaningful than money.

¹ I don’t mean to imply you do none of that and she does all of it. I don’t know your situation. I’m merely suggesting a reflection on what you could do more.
