Why does submitting my url here on HN lead to a different domain?


So I have been trying to figure this out and can't solve it. It only happens here on Hacker News.

I have urltotext.com and domaincrafter.ai running on the same server. Nginx configs look correct to me and I cannot find any issues myself.

Weirdly though, anytime I try to input the URL urltotext.com here on HN to post in Show HN, it actually leads to domaincrafter.ai when I click submit.

Is there something strange going on behind the scenes with the hacker news submission?

Hacker news, like search engines, uses the canonical header if you set it. On your urltotext.com domain, you're setting that header to domaincrafter.ai, so that's what gets used:
