I’ve realized now that I’m not very interested in continuing to work at startup companies anymore. I’m burned out and tired of working so hard / taking a lot of risk for not a lot of benefit on my end.
My problem is that the only recruiters that reach out to me and the only companies I can seem to get any interviews with are small startups looking for a “hungry self starter principle engineer to help redefine AI” (aka a ChatGPT wrapper company).
I’m worried that I’ve pigeon holed myself into the startup world now and either don’t get a response or get outright rejected from larger more well known companies that I apply to. I know it’s not a great job market right now by any means, but any advice on how to work towards this and be more successful would be much appreciated.
There are layoffs everywhere. Lots of people apply for the same roles.
You'd be lucky to have recruiters reach out and even get into roles.
It's a tough situation and lots are out of work for months.
Work for tertiary education.
Both are innately valuable but will also feed into being hired by larger tech.
