How do you keep up with your 'inner circle' online?

By 'inner circle' I mean the friends and family who are more than just acquaintances or colleagues, but people whose lives you genuinely care about.

If you rely on social media, which platforms?

If you've ditched social media, do you rely on group texts, private micro-networks, video chats, other means?

Private Mattermost server. Advantages: Not indexed by search engines, not in the cloud, not a service that can go away at the whims of a corporation, not part a social network. Disadvantages: I have to maintain the server, it's not as feature rich as Slack, and it's one more program people have to run on their computers or phones.

Telegram group chats and calls, mostly. I don't use any other social media app, except WhatsApp when they don't have Telegram.

In person meetings, phone calls, email and random things for individuals I do projects with such as Slack.

iMessages and Signal group chats. WhatsApp for those who won’t migrate to Signal or don’t have iPhones.

Love.

I think of them, I may txt them, but I reach out and express "Hey I love you" every so often.

I dont need to speak to them - as we communicate through how our thoughtds are the same.

When I need to check-in, I do so by a txt or email.

my signal folks privacy, but tbh - ive given up on the reality of privacy, period. there is none.

So I oblige signal. and I am open on the Open Internet with my feelings that ALL THE KNTZ are spying on you and ALL THE CORPOS are exploiting you.

So My comms are basically telepathic - at ~50 years into this game, IRL know who is an NPC and else I dont need to speak with those in my circle with meta-data on defining the state of things.
