Can I link to my vlog here on show HN or is that spam?

Question

HiI am Jogi, indie hacker making small webapps as I learn svelte kit and I am starting a vlog with monthly progress / journey updates on youtube.I just had the idea of sharing the vlog here under `Show HN:` when it comes out in a couple of days but I do not want to spam this place if this sort of thing is frowned upon.I read the rules but am unclear on them which is why I am asking this here, don't wanna ruin my karma lol, is that sort of thing cool to do or not?Cheers Jogi

I agree with the other comments, some general advice in case you want to post:
* What you want to post is probably not a "Show HN". Take a look at https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html
* After posting write a comment explaining you are the author and try to answer most of the questions.
* Try to be active in other threads about topics you know and can give some insightful information. Or make interesting genuine questions.
* In my opinion, a monthly update is usually boring. Try to make a blog post about one interesting problem you had during the month and how you solved it. (The monthly update may be helpful for the community following the project, but not for posting here.)
* Don't post too often. In my opinion, once a month is a good interval to find something interesting to say, and make a good blog/video about it. It can vary a lot.

I think maybe a single link would be okay, but nothing more than that.I did the same. Made it to the first page with a link, had thousands of views over two days, which was amazing. But now links to the site are shadow banned, sadly.

1. Content you make should be a regular submission, not a Show HN. Show HN is only for things you made that people can play with or use.
2. HN discourages using HN solely or significantly for self promotion.
3. HN has paid moderators. You can ask them about your plans using the contact link in the footer of this page.
