How do you feel about interviewing process

As someone who used to interview for my team as we grew; a lot of candidates can't back up what's on their resume. Even simple questions they fall apart.

I tend to just have a conversation. Tell me what you can do, explain some of the details, tell me about the last time you broke production, it's usually enough. I've never made a bad hire knocks on wood

On the other side, I can't get an interview AT ALL right now. Over the years I've sat through garbage interviews with trick questions and brain teasers from people trying to be google, except google long ago realized that doesn't work...
