Why there is asterisk(*) attached to my post and it got shadowbanned?


I have created a personal project of chrome extension and wanted to share it with community (with Show HN tag). It seemed to be submitted correctly, yet my post is blurred (turned to grey) with an asterisk(*) and cannot be seen for anybody except me.

I'm still kinda new in this community and not sure what went wrong and why.

Your post wasn't banned in any way!

The orange/red asterisk just means it's your own submission or comment. Everyone sees that on their own posts instead of the upvote arrow.

The grey just means that you visited the URL. If you click on any other link on HN you'll see that it goes from black to grey. Since obviously you've visited your own link, that's why it started out that way.
