1. Has great worldwide premium networking ( no Comcast! )
and either:
2. allows me to run a VPS at their edge locations
or
3. provides a service that allows me to connect back to our own DC via the proxy protocol
Context: tried a number of vps providers: vultr, linode, etc where I run haproxy but their infrastructure is flaky, there's no SLA. I need to proxy non-http traffic.
I checked out HAProxy Edge but their own network isn't very quick from the locations I'm interested in ( mainly Asia -> NA ).
I also checked out Fly.io but saw 5 errors in 5 minutes from trying to deploy an app/machine so I backed out.
The consumer-facing CDNs usually cache HTTP traffic at edge nodes because there's a standard pattern for it. If you're doing something different, you can probably go to a lower level of networking and abstractions?
