What to do with a 24 bay 4U chassis?
Last year I inherited a 24 bay 4U chassis with SAS backplanes from a customer as it was faulty - was the original motherboard which I tossed out and fitted a microATX motherboard into it but it was a very tight squeeze, and it is too short to fit a normal sized ATX motherboard into it. What are my options? Is it possible to extract the 24 bay SAS backplane and bays and transplant into a much longer empty chassis?
Could you fit a mini ITX mobo in there? Alternatively, could you build a 1U system and use something like a PCIe riser to connect the drives from the 4U to the 1U system?
