I expect a competent physicist to correct me, but belief the actionables, the outcomes lie only in the presence or absence of an observer feels to me like an attempt at theism. Personally, I think the real-world events which we consider collapse of the wave functions happens without observation.

Observation is only the discrimination of which outcome, not that an outcome happened. The problem is "the knowing" not "the existing"

wavefunction collapse is caused by measurement - it is a physical energy exchange between system under study and measurement apparatus, which is how the observer does the observing (human or no)
