What server host do you use for your personal projects?

My VPS host is currently experiencing an outage that’s not even listed on the status page, and I’m starting to look at better options. Recommendations?

I’m on the east coast, but suggestions for other regions are appreciated too.

OVH of course. Hetzner is a name that comes up often too.

Note that you can have a dedicated server, not just a VPS, for as cheap as 5 EUR / month (and you can go up to insanely powerful stuff with bandwidth and CPU power sufficient for 99.99% of all the SMEs in the world at a fraction of the price of cloud offerings). They automatically come with quite beefy DoS protection too.

These are remotely controlled: you can re-install another Linux distro in minutes. You can also boot to a Web console. I precise this because any time these names comes up some comments here invariably explaining that "I don't have the time to assemble a server" or "I don't have the time to drive to the datacenter to fix a failed machine" etc.

We're talking about companies managing hundreds of thousands of servers (since decades now?). They know what they are doing.

Digital Ocean droplets start at $4 USD/month and super reliable. https://www.digitalocean.com/products/droplets
