WordPress design and dev, still a good career option?

Dear HNIs it still a good career option to learn WordPress skills? And what's your understanding of the state of the market for WordPress design and technical services?WP is such a flexible system these days and remains a hugely popular platform. I assume there are some good opportunities to build a career in this space, what do you think?

even if you can cash it out, I cannot see any pleasure on doing it: would you really like it?
most of your "colleagues" will be the kind that do it 'cause they did not try anything else, I think
it is really cheap stuff, and so hard to properly protect
