Is AI Overrated?

I've seen thousands of AI startups get funded, but barely find anything thats made its way into my daily life. Are AI startup overrated?

Many are. It's a wild west right now with lots of money flowing into AI startups, that's why every company under the sun is adding AI to its products and most of it is crap. A good majority of those will fail. Some will find product market fit and become profitable. A few will make it really big.

Yes. If not it is already losing the hype it had a year ago.

That is exactly the same problem once again. "thousands of AI startups get funded" is what creates the bubble for these startups relying only on VC cash until they run out and go bankrupt.

Only a minority of startups including the incumbent big tech companies will survive this hype cycle.

The title and body are two different topics. AI is not overrated. AI startups are overrated. FOSS all the way; we'll get there. GenAI is short for Generative AI. That's all it does; humanity's best attempt yet at T9 text prediction. General AI is still not yet achievable, but using today's GenAI definition we can get to tomorrow's GenAI definition.
