Gmail Taking 500+MB RAM on macOS with Brave

Question

So, I'm using brave on an m3 mac and having 2 big issues: 1. Brave does not properly use memory saver - I have it set on aggressive and even then tabs like gmail just remain active even if I don't use them in days2. Especially Gmail tab takes upwards of 500MB - in comparison if I run machine learning models on a moderate sized data set Python ends up taking 1-1.5GB - What is so special that Gmail is doing that it requires so much resources lol

I use Thunderbird to read my GMail accounts. The web browsers take up too much RAM, but I think (I am not 100% certain) that reading IMAP GMAIL in Thunderbird takes up less RAM.
