Is freelancing a good path to building SaaS?

I left my job, thinking I can get going with freelancing, and build my saas ideas in the freetime.But then I noticed even when I have free time, my mind is always on the topic of freelancing.Chasing new clients, writing blog content, answering to clients, networking etc.I searched on HN and see a lot of commenting that freelancing might be a bad path if you want to have a SaaS company.Maybe it's better to have a job, don't give 100% and just build after hours?I guess many people here have been through that dilemma. What did you choose and why? What happened?

A plan that worked for me is to have a MVP product for free, then get some clients. Some of those clients will ask you for features, they pay you to implement them, and then you start selling those features.My area was wordpress plugins, might not be viable for you.
