Big_org is paying spammers to like their YT videos: what can I do?


Today I received a SPAM message on Whatsapp. It asked if I was interested in making some money with little effort. I was curious, so I played along.

Turns out what they're asking for are likes on youtube videos. Specifically, they want likes on videos from BIG_ORGANIZATION. The simplest explanation is that BIG_ORGANIZATION hired a promotion company who in turn is paying spammers to get likes on their videos.

I wish I was able to do my part to make them stop. But I honestly don't know what to do. I was about to shame BIG_ORGANIZATION here in this post, but that's not my point.

My point is: what can we do to stop this kind of behavior?

First of all, you believe the spammer. You played along and then you played yourself. Just don't believe anything the spammer said is genuine.

Secondly, I think we've all been wondering that since email has become a thing, right? This kind of behavior will continue as long as people play along and as long as everyone is on the internet someone will play along.
