It changed its content so many times. It had Bucky’s videos about tunas and bacons (I miss videos with Gerald I believe?), it was a forum, it was a social network, it was some crypto stuff, and now I don’t even know what it is, have to make an account to find out.
Also a bunch of sites that technically still exist but in a drastically worse state.
Early Yahoo, when it was still mostly human curated.
Early reddit, before the moderator rebellion a few years ago.
Early Facebook, when it was mostly friends and organic chronological content.
Early Amazon, before third party sellers and listing spam
Early Google, before the half the front page was ads and the first ten pages SEO spam
Early Slashdot, before the new UI and owner drove away much of the audience. The old moderation system was awesome. (+1 insightful)
Early CNET and Tomshardware, when they still had great content.
Two decades of enshittification has not been good for the web...
