Crypt.ee or Ente.io for Photo management e.g. Google Photos replacement?

I'll keep it simple:

In the past few weeks, I've been seeing Ente.io posted and reposted, too much praise on HN.

I have not seen much for crypt.ee.

Lazily using google to look up reviews, the most alarming is: https://www.reddit.com/r/PrivacyGuides/comments/rjzc9s/compare_cryptee_and_enteio/

I'm aware that Google and Reddit aren't the best sources of reviews or content anymore -

I'm also double aware that self hosted is the best for privacy and owning data, and I may just head towards photoprism or memories/nextcloud -- but it does seem great to let someone host infrastructure!

But from personal experience on HN, would you suggest one or the other or really would you push just self hosting? I don't lack the skills, I just lack the time and like it to "work." because my normal everyday work is basically SRE and I've been limiting doing tech stuff outside work hours, though, it is something I do enjoy - but time/value fallacy.
