Deep integration with existing tools and workflows is where most of the value lies, I think, and that takes time. Also it seems the models aren't just there yet, context windows are a bit too small for them to be useful for very complex scenarios. With 1-10 M contexts that might change as models can e.g. hold an entire knowledge base or code base in their memory and reason about it.
Personally I see tons of potential for AI to automate some of my daily workflows e.g. working with task managers, project documentation, writing code, understanding architecture, writing docs etc. etc. etc... It's just that there's not yet enough integration for these things to happen, but let's wait 1-2 years, almost all companies are working on integration now.
