That scares me (a lot).
My plan is to buy another brand of SSD and move the files across asap.
But, before I do that, is there a way to know (e.g. by looking up the specific model number or even production batch number) for sure if the two Sandisk SSDs I own are among the models/batches that are prone to spontaneous failure/data loss?
Sorry this is such a 'dumb' question - feels like it should be easily answerable on my own, but from a couple of hours searching/reading, then a reddit post (removed - off topic), and a stack exchange post (same fate and reason as reddit post), combined with the fact Sandisk denies there's even a problem and thus haven't issued a recall, it's very hard for me to answer this seemingly rudimentary question.
Thanks so much for any help/advice.
Maybe invest in a RAID like storage / Go back to HDD, as data can be recovered professionally / Store in those military grade solutions ( LaCie ) / Write it to a bunch of DVDs
just my 2 cents
Not a dumb question at all. Put the serial numbers into this [1] site.
