Is EMBA from a highly ranked school worth at age 45?

I did an MBA a year ago, along side quite a few people doing an EMBA, the difference in my opinion is not in the education, but rather the cost, and accessibility to being able to do it (different structure). I came away thinking the MBA has become a lot more obtainable for a lot of people, and so an EMBA is sounds more exclusive and therefore more “marketable” for c-suite type roles. The main point of difference I found in terms of the learning was that the EMBA had a course on governance whereas my MBA was more leadership and management focused. Overall, I find that the only people who care if you have an MBA or EMBA’s are other people who have MBA’s. It’s quite a lot of money to spend on a business status thing. If I was to rewind, I wouldn’t do an MBA at all - I’d do something more focused and hone some more practical, tangible skills like computer science or something. A lot of the best leaders/managers I have had, have not had business degrees.

It's not worth it at any age. If money is what you want, don't get sold to by EMBA. Be the one selling.

In my experience, it looks like the people who just consistently worked 10+ hours a day were promoted into management sooner than the ones who spent their time on MBA classes. It's probably not worth the time and money at that age if you aren't already in middle management.

Will you pay for it? Odds are that you'll get better returns if you invest the money instead.

Yes. But only if you are going there to learn. Not for the credentials.
