Software which is paid but you wish was free and open-source?

What I’m hearing is disconnected from reality in that paid software pays the developers, whereas free software depends on the passion of the developers.

Often projects just stop cold because nobody wants to work on it.

If there’s demand and they will pay, that is less likely to happen.

Tell us what your question is driving at.

"Paid" and "free and open-source" are not incompatible at all. Your question reads like "Food which is warm but you wish was spicy?".
