But I would LOVE to work on a cool side project with someone else.
Since there are no meetups or coworking spaces or anything else in my (literal) neck of the woods in Europe, there are no organic non-virtual ways to meet new people.
What do you do in a situation like this? Join online meetups? Use YC Co-Founder search? Anything else? I'm curious.
Outside of school/uni, there's no more "social networking" for this "our tribe" in the hinterlands. If not the-big-city, I guess it'll have to be some digital-nomads expats-heavy destination. Ironically, for the techiest audience of all, any technical solution attempts at this feel alienating and not to be sought/tried out. =)
One thing I learned from my fluke impulse to move "into a calmer, greener, cleaner environment" (provincial) is: you're either in hicksville or in hax0rville. (On the plus side, it made for laidback, non-dystopian pandemic years.)
Statistically, my most pessimistic estimate is that 1/100 is in the very same spot and scene as you and me, broadly. That's technically tiny-village size (so technically there is no "hicksville", it just feels like it). Might pass each other once a week and never know for decades, though. Welcome to the 21st century =) ultimately, I guess we all make do with our niche tech Discords / IRCs, HN, plus whatever family/colleagues (remote or not).
