What will become of current population of AI's GPUs as they age?

What will be the actual product lifecycle of the millions of GPUs that are currently powering this generation of AI?

Perhaps we need a tiered lifecycle flow to move GPUs/compute to academia down through middle schools and such?

A non profit entity where the current owners of these AI focused GPUs/Compute can help these make it into the hands of more and more, and younger, generations being brought up into this new computing era being born/built?

If they are powerful enough to run GPT4, to the point where we are talking about fears of capability - surely, they will be powerful enough for a long time to educate, and perform useful work, for a long time to come?

Anyone aware of any discussions of such occurring within OpenAI, Anthropic. whomever else?

Guessing they will be used to generate synthetic data from simulation to feed the next gen of AI. No copyright issues then.

There might be room for clubs of AI hobbyists who curate datasets and build simulations.

They will start forgetting their keys, then the names of their grandchildren.
