If you fed a D&D adventure book into AI could the AI be Dungeon Master?

Just curious to know.

Say you took a Dungeons and Dragons adventure book, which describes an adventure and usually requires a Dungeon Master to guide the adventurers and bring it to life.

If you fed that adventure book into AI could the AI then be the dungeon master?

I doubt that would be enough to replace a good dungeon master - though you may get an oatmeal game...

Sorry, was quick to hit send - from our experience the AI will be a very permissive DM. It usually agrees with everything you say.

To add more structure and challenge to it, we took a hybrid approach of letting it do it's thing, while enforcing some strict rules in code.

Hope this helps!

Sure. It's already been done; the known prompts usually start with "act as a dungeon master..."

Context size limits will get you, so ChatGPT 3.5 won't work. You'd need something like superbooga or one of those "talk to your PDF" plugins to let the agent look up specifics from the book, since you can't embed the whole thing in the prompt.
