How can fake AI news get on Google News?

Hey HN ! Have you noticed that website with fake AI generated news are filling up Google News feed ? The article are GPT generated, the thumbnail and author photo are obviously generated, as well as the fake author's bio. The website is filled with ads to make money quickly. One recent example. I've noticed is "TS2.space" but there are plenty more. I thought websites needed to be whitelisted by Google employees, how can this obvious B.S. happen ?

Example of fake bio : "Natalia Toczkowska is a notable figure in digital health technology, recognized for her contributions in advancing telemedicine and healthcare apps. Her work focuses on developing innovative solutions to improve patient care and accessibility through technology. Toczkowska’s research and development in creating user-friendly, secure digital platforms have been instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness of remote medical consultations and patient monitoring. Her dedication to integrating technology in healthcare has not only improved patient outcomes but also streamlined healthcare processes, making her a key influencer in the field of digital health innovation."

With the ad-supported business model there is a constant battle between doing good for the users and doing good for the customers (advertisers). Most of the GPT spam is ad-supported. Imagine if a search engine didn't care about ad-revenue and could just derank the crap out of ad-supported websites.
