As the question states. The old sun microsystems tagline, now owned by cloudflare. The network is the computer. It's held all sorts of meanings. What does it mean to you now in 2023?
Offloading compute to the cloud. We can have low spec, low resource thin clients to access supercomputers through VNC clients.
We now run procedural workflows across distributed machines. Stateless services over HTTP handle mundane sequences inside containers of VMs in worldwide datacenters. CPU and memory are rented in dollars.
