Any browser developers out there?

I’m looking to get my foot in the door working on Chromium or other browser projects, ideally on layout engines. My work experience is mostly C# but I’ve used C++ primarily back in Uni and a little at my first job in embedded systems.

What are my first steps to making this movement? I’m currently working in cloud automation.

People tend to say “just contribute” but I’m always skeptical about if that would work. Let alone if I’m smart enough to even get hired by Google or any company that works on browsers. I didn’t go to a prestigious school and don’t know a lot about Big O. I wasn’t passionate about math in college but I’m willing to learn now if that’s what it takes.
