Is my front page your front page?

Every so often, after reading about a novel or obscure (to me) topic elsewhere on the internet, I’ll come across the same topic being discussed here on the front page. Does HN use my search history to influence what I see? Do we all have somewhat unique front pages? Or is this some sort of recency bias at play? It’s always oddly jarring when it happens.

For those curious, last night I read this[0] paper and today found this[1] to be in the top spot of HN.

Potentially it is recency bias. Like when you learn a new word, and suddenly see it everywhere. Also potentially it could be something more troubling, like being infected with malware. I don't know your setup or how vigilant you are, so it's impossible for me to just say you're infected or are being tracked.
