Is Blockchain Still a Thing

I recently joined a startup as a junior web developer, and we're working on a project for issuing and verifying documents on the blockchain (using Ethereum as a public blockchain and Hyperledger as a private one). While I'm not deeply involved in the implementation details of this aspect, I'm interested in hearing your opinion on whether it's worth diving deeper into this world.

Trust is the biggest issue facing humanity imho, so I think blockchain will have a role to play. The interesting stuff is in the guts, not the coins.

I do not think most people will use the currencies, but the underlying tech will eventually mature and parts may be lifted for use elsewhere. That chain of trust and provenance is going to be important as the GenAI becomes more accessible and capable.

Hyperledger is an interesting implementation, using Proof of Authority. It's heresy in the blockchain community, but I think it's one of the better projects out there.
