Why All That Drama?

It seems like the drama factor in tech has lately increased dramatically. Lots of personality focused stories - and strong opinions on forums like HN. I get the entertainment factor but the noise is irritating.Is it just me? And if not: why all this drama?

It's annoying, and sort of lowers my opinion of some of the user base here, because I consider personality cult to be a very low-value normie thing to partake in.But no matter, I just hide that stuff like I do with Elon's crap. It'll pass soon. It always does.

Altman is a household name because AI has captured the public imagination. People naturally love drama. This story happens to have a wide ranging audience, high stakes, and most importantly lots of posts on X.
