How do you have the energi to work and think in the morning?
I have never understood people who wake up early, get to work / college / uni and can work seamlessly.
My brain barely functions at 8 AM while others manage to open a math book and get things done.
And it’s not that I don’t get enough sleep, because I do, I get at least 8-9 hours sleep.
So, how do you do it?
I guess, this is very person dependent. For example, I wake up at 5AM every morning and already in the office at 6AM (luckily, I don't have to commute). While, my wife is more 9-to-5 person, so she sleeps longer. There is no trick in it. Just different people. Of course, coffee helps. :)
From my observations it's genetic. Just like people have different hair color, eye color, height, etc. I'm a morning person. I function well on 7.5hrs sleep. Within reason I can go to bed anytime and wake up less than 8hrs later. My wife is the typical owl. She sleeps till 10 and is barely functioning even after coffee until the early afternoon.
In my experience, it is easier to not fight your natural circadian cycle. Just organize your day to match your changing aptitudes.
Do you have more energy later in the day - when many of the people who woke early and were energetic in the morning do not?
People differ. And they usually change over time. I recall energetic early mornings as a small child. And being barely awake at 9am in my mid-teens. And shifting back somewhat in my early 20's, and ...
It's your biological clock.
For me it is the same, but I got over it. Just needed a few months of wakeup early, having
a ritual like coffee & cig.. then, 10 minutes after I'm awake. Then I got used to it
I am not at my best in the morning, so I do my work at night instead (as much as is feasible anyway).
