What's Up with FedNow?

Is there hope for a widely-supported instant payment system in the US that I can integrate with directly as a developer or as a small business or non-profit?

There was a lot of buzz in July when it launched but I'm curious about how things have moved forward since then, and what things are planned on the horizon.
