I'll start. For me, it's 0%

My current job it’s 0% unless you count the gift cards they give us at Christmas.

However, I’ve just interviewed for a job with a decent six figure base salary, with a $20k car allowance, and up to an extra 50% of the base salary in bonuses and an uncapped commission + all expenses paid travel (the role involves extensive domestic travel and some international travel). I didn’t apply for this role, but was cold called by a recruiter and asked to consider it, so I agreed to do an interview. At this point, I’m actually kind of hopeful.

This ask HN post surfaces a question I have often wondered but haven't found a logical answer to.

Why do people not share their salary information more openly when it is beneficial for them. Most people know that sharing would help them negotiate better and in some cases take away the extreme amount of leverage the employer has due to comp being secretive.

I will post this as a separate question to see what the hive mind thinks.

Unless you want to include pension which is 10% on top of my wages (Companies can pay tax free to employer pension savings here)

I don't get bonuses, so I consider my side-hustles my bonus. This year, it's close to 100%

In theory my profit sharing and performance bonus could be 20%. In reality it's more like 10%.

~15% at FAANG. Previous was about 8% at a startup. Before that it was ~12% at an F500.

👤 screwturner68
before my promotion it was 0-3% and now it's 0-10%, after a decade of 2% (or less) bonuses I almost choked last year when I got 10%. This year I'd be thrilled with 5%.

I get up to 10% of my salary as a bonus. It's linked to a handful of KPIs.

50% working in trading, but my base is that of a junior.

Your bonus is not part of your salary. It’s part of your total compensation.
