When do you think the singularity will hit?

If you go with Wikipedia's summary definition - "The technological singularity—or simply the singularity[1]—is a hypothetical future point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable consequences for human civilization." - then I'd say that it hit us between 1850 and 1865. That's when technologies such as electric telegraphs, railroads, ironclad warships, and machine guns were really taking off. And were being used, decisively and at scale, in war. So it got damn obvious that any A-, B-, or even C-list nation which wanted the ability to determine its own future had no choice - it had to participate in a fast-paced, deep, and long-term technological and industrialization race.
