Why there is so much of everything on the internet?

We have so many task management apps, note taking apps, bookmarking apps.

We have hundreds if not thousands of articles on any given topic.

Moreover we have short form content, be it tweets, reels or shorts in bulk. Literally bulk.

Why do you think that is? Why are we creating more and more of everything?

It boils down to the reason the people who post such content refer to themselves as "creators" and "influencers." Most of the time the only thing they influence is how people spend their time at that moment. But there are enough people in the world that it is easy for them to repeat what's already been done a dozen times, and manage to have an audience who hasn't seen it the first 20 times around.

TikTok actually specializes in having a gazillion people all do the same thing, and feel like they are all influencers while they're at it.

The illusion of importance is a very strong draw.
