How does the Unity licensing change affect me?

I get that they've hit the self-destruct button.

But I'm interested to know how this affects me as someone who owns games across multiple platforms - steam/epic/gog/etc, console physical/digital etc.

The policy might affect future updates, but what about stuff I've already paid for?

My prediction is that some games might just delist themselves or early access titles might stop development. There may some delays of releases of new games if devs decide to switch engine.

What does concern me is the DRM issue. Unity talks about being able to detect re-installs but that implies there is code in the runtime that reports back to Unity. Does this code exist? What else could this code do? Could they deactivate a product remotely? I would assume not but we don't actually know.

At this point I am actually wary of purchasing a product that uses Unity, that is probably not rational but rather a gut feeling.
