How expensive was sunsetting internet explorer?

Expensive? It was probably one of the greatest investments. Imagine no longer having to invest in the web engine (since edge is based on chromium), and also getting rid of all the negative publicity surrounding internet explorer over the years.

I was really excited when they updated IE into Edge. They blogged about removing legacy code, and seemed a motivated team, keen to update their technology to a competitive browser engine.

So I was really disappointed when Microsoft announced the switch to Chrome.

I wish at least they'd moved to Firefox and not supported the monoculture.
